Conway & Partners was highlighted recently in three separate international forums where partners Nathan O'Malley, Thabiso van den Bosch and Shawn Conway were all featured speakers. The American Bar Association International Section's Spring Meeting was recently held in New York City at the Grand Hyatt, Manhattan on April 14-17. One of the sessions featured in this year's conference was a panel discussion on the topic of "summary procedure in international arbitration". C&P partner Nathan O'Malley was the moderator for this panel discussion which took an in-depth look at the issue of whether expedited or summary disposition of claims procedures were appropriate in international arbitration. Around 80 attendees were present representing international lawyers from Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. A number of audience members offered comments and questions - contributing to a lively discussion. The five members of the panel included partners and senior practitioners from a number of leading law firms worldwide.
On April 17th Thabiso van den Bosch was the featured speaker at the recent Torus International Consutlants Association gathering in Amsterdam. "Torus" is a multidisciplinary professional services organizations with member firms throughout Europe. Thabiso's presentation at the Torus semi-annual gathering covered the topic of mediation in the context of international dispute resolution.
The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, European Branch recently asked Shawn Conway to address its Spring conference in Edinburgh, Scotland which was scheduled to be held over the weekend of April 16 & 17. Shawn had been asked to present a speech on the topic of "Expert Determinations" in international disputes to the gathering of around 90 dispute resolution practitioners from across Europe. Due, however, to the recent disturbances in air travel caused by the volcanic ash cloud over Europe, the CIarb Conference was cancelled.
